DIY Nautica perfume

My wife loves the scent of Nautica for men, so I’m trying to create a DIY perfume that captures a similar fragrance profile for my shaving cream. I don’t have access to the specific ingredients of Nautica for men, I will experiment with essential oils to create a similar scent. Consider using essential oils such as citrus (like bergamot), lavender, sage, cedarwood, and sandalwood because they are commonly found in men’s fragrances. Combine the oils in small amounts, adjusting the ratios until you achieve a scent that you find pleasing.

As we are adding it to my shaving cream, there is no need to dilute the essential oils with a carrier oil, like jojoba or fractionated coconut oil, and add a small amount of alcohol to help disperse the fragrance. Allow the perfume to sit for a day or so for the scent to develop fully. Finally, transfer the perfume to a glass bottle and store it in a cool, dark place.

To ensure precise measurement of essential oils, use a dropper to collect slightly more than the required amount. Then, carefully place the appropriate number of drops into the cap or a small container. Afterward, return any unused portion to the original vial to avoid waste. To prevent cross-contamination between different oils, it’s advisable to clean the dropper with water before using it with a different essential oil.

Creating a DIY Nautica-inspired perfume involves considering various factors, including the strength of the essential oil, the size of your bottle, and your personal preferences. Since you’re making shaving cream, it’s recommended to use 12-18 drops of essential oil as a general guideline. However, feel free to adjust the number of drops based on your desired scent intensity. Remember to experiment and test the scent along the way to achieve the ideal fragrance for your shaving cream.

  • 4 drops of bergamot essential oil
  • 4 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 2 drops of sage essential oil
  • 2 drops of rose essential oil
  • 2 drops of jasmine essential oil
  • 2 drops of cedarwood essential oil
  • 2 drops of sandalwood essential oil

These are just suggested amounts, and you can adjust the number of drops based on your preference. Start with fewer drops, and then add more if needed until you achieve the desired scent. It is not the same scent but complements Nautica perfume.

It’s important to note that some essential oils can be quite potent, so it’s always a good idea to add essential oils drop by drop and to test the scent frequently as you go along. You can always add more drops of essential oil, but it’s difficult to remove essential oils once they have been added to the mixture.
